Talk it Out Tuesdays
Talk it out Tuesdays is a group meeting for students offered by the Park University Counseling Center. It helps students connect with one another on issues they face in college and takes place on the Parkville campus.
Run by Park University counseling center interns Katie Kalahurka and Alex Beker, these groups consist of five to nine students that discuss emotional intelligence, well-being, motivation, values and other issues they face in order to think through and talk out what they are going through.
“I think it will benefit students in a few ways, like they can meet people that (they) may have not spoken with before. They can learn a little bit about how to bolster their strengths and work through issues that stress them out,” said Kalahurka, “It is also a way of coming in to a counseling atmosphere, but in a less pressured way. It’s a really nice way to go before a one-on-one counseling.”
Groups like this will be available in future years to help students connect and express the struggles of life as a student and stress of every day.
“It’s kind of planting the seeds for this being available in general for people, and it’s a way for future students to have an outlet for connecting in a low-pressure environment,” said Kalahurka.
Talk it out Tuesdays meets from 5:30 to 7 p.m. every Tuesday in the Copley Quad Conference Room until April 9.
