Park’s Student Activities Board
PSAB, Park’s Student Activities Board, is an organization currently consisting of seven student members. With each member having their own specific job, the group aims to create events on and off campus for students to participate in.
President Abby Jeans, a junior at Park, has been a part of the organization for two years now.
“Our goal is to get students to come together for these events to add to their experience,” Jeans said, “It is also very important for us to keep Park traditions like homecoming and the foam party going.”
The group focuses on events that students, like themselves, would truly enjoy. Each semester PSAB also makes an effort to provide at least one educational event. With a variety of activities and events, there is something out there for everyone.
There are several things to look for in the upcoming months here at Park.
The organization has plans for a few new events, as well. Red Nose Day, originated in the UK, is a day to raise awareness for children in poverty. PSAB has organized a karaoke night event to celebrate this day and raise money for the Comic Relief Charity. The event will be hosted on March 23 in the underground on campus. Organization members will be walking around campus handing out red noses throughout the week.
PSAB has also organized an improv show that is planned for March 31. Local artists have been invited to this event to provide caricature drawings, henna tattoos and other fun things. “We are excited about this event because it is the same day as Park After Dark, and the high school students are encouraged to come to the event to experience Park life as well,” said Abby.
The spring formal makes its return on April 8. The annual Cave Rave event will also take place on May 4.
PSAB has a lot of plans for events in the future, too. Currently they are working on organizing a Royals game for students to attend. This would be a great opportunity for students that are not from the area to experience a Kansas City tradition, as well as local students to enjoy a favorite pastime.
PSAB is always looking for new members who enjoy participating in campus events and have a passion for continuing to use Park’s core values as encouragement for adding to the university experience. Open applications will begin in April. Check out Park’s Student Activities Board social media pages for more information.
