Terminated NFL contract for Ravens’ Ray Rice appropriate for crim
Ray Rice of NFL’s Baltimore Ravens was released from the team on Sept. 8. A video of Rice in a casino was released by TMZ, where Rice can be seen getting on an elevator with his fiancé where and proceeding to punch her in the face where she then hits her head on a rail and collapses. It also shows Rice dragging her out the elevator.
I agree with the decision of the Baltimore Ravens to terminate his contract based on this video footage. You can make your case about how other players were accused of things worst and didn’t get this type of treatment but there is proof of Rice committing this action of punching his fiancé. No one wants a person in their league that does those actions.
Personally, I’m disgusted hearing about this. A man hitting a woman is never acceptable. I have no respect for a man that puts their hands on any woman, better yet their fiancé. As athletes, you’re already looked at through a magnifying glass to see if you’re going to do something wrong. That’s just how it is. Athletes can’t put themselves in positions to fail when it’s not regarding the sport.
All I can do is go off what I watched. What’s next to find out is what triggered the argument that led to violence. That’s really not going to change the fact that he put his fist in her face. This happened in February so they haven’t forgotten about the situation. This is a serious case. I’m sure Rice wouldn’t be okay with a man hitting his mother. That’s how I look at things in life. It’s not right.
I expect him to do a lot of press conferences apologizing. I’m not sure if he will be out of the NFL forever but for now he won’t be there and I don’t think any team is going to offer him any time soon.
I don’t think the team should have waited this long to make the decision but I guess they thought long and hard about it.
If you see the video, it would make you furious and sick to your stomach.
