After a long start to a rocky season, the women’s team finished off the season with its sixth shutout of the season against Benedictine University at Springfield with a final score of 4-0.
The team had a strong second half of the season this past month winning six of it’s eight games including five of the games being shutout wins.
“We’re pleased with the overall finish,” said Ken Hefner, head coach. “The ultimate goal is always to win the conference. We got close but still not bad it puts us into a good position for the postseason and to finish what we really want to accomplish.”
After a three-game road trip, the team returned to Julian Field to play William Woods where they fell in a 2-0 shutout loss. Three days later, the team played their regular season finale against Benedictine-Springfield while honoring Senior Defenders Cara Lighte and Jen French.
Midfielder Caitlin Foreman led the team in scoring with two goals against Benedictine-Springfield with Emily Key and Shnell Biscoe getting the other two goals of the game.
The team finished the regular season ranked second place in the American Midwest conference with an 8-2 record in the conference and an 8-7 record overall.
The team will host Freed-Hardeman in the conference quarterfinals at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8, at Julian Field.
