The Park Pirate Women’s Soccer team is making up for lost times with a three game winning streak, including a three shutouts. Their success began at home when the team took on Missouri Baptist last week.
The Women started off playing conservative defense as Missouri Baptist fouled three times within the first 20 minutes of play.
Park would go on to prove this would not be the first shutout of the season. Junior Midfielder Bridget Steiner scored with an assist by midfielders Shnell Briscoe and Caitlin Foreman.
The team continued its aggressive offense in the second half with another goal in the 52nd minute by junior Midfielder Shnell Briscoe with the assist by Steiner. The team was able to hold off Missouri Baptist winning the game 2-0, another shutout win.
Later in the week the women took their winning streak on a two-game road trip starting in Columbia against Stephens College in a major shutout win of 21-0. Every player saw points on the board in the shutout.
Steiner and Briscoe lead the team in scoring with five goals each. Midfielder Kathryn Dykes and Forward Jessenia Lopez backed them up with two goals each and to no one’s surprise – every other player also scored a goal.
The team continued its road trip against Lyon College as Briscoe led the team to a 1-0 victory, making it the team’s third straight shutout win.
This three game streak has pumped the Pirate’s record up to four wins and five loses and undefeated in the American Midwest Conference.
