Park preparing for annual Harvest Fest
Autumn brings many diverse aspects to Park University from cooler weather, leaves transforming color and the much-anticipated Harvest Fest.
“It’s a tradition at Park,” said Vy Nguyen, junior business administration/international business major. “There are activities every day and it’s a great way for students to get to know Park and form a community.”
Beginning Monday, Sept. 15, and continuing until Saturday, Sept. 20, students will be entertained with a variety of activities.
A Park history trivia game will be held Monday, Sept. 15, during lunchtime hours in the Thompson Commons.
On Tuesday, Sept. 16, high-flying Chinese acrobats will be on campus due to a partnership with the International Student Admissions and Services.
Wednesday, Sept. 17, will be full of wonder as a magician performs in the cafeteria during lunch and in the underground. Also, a rock wall will be available for students to climb the day away.
Thursday, Sept. 18, will offer free airbrush tattoos in the Thompson Student Center; and Friday kicks off Alumni Weekend with current and past Park students at Stone Canyon Pizza for VIP access and free pizza beginning at 7 p.m.
Rounding out the week on Saturday will be games, a bouncy house and food, which will all be set up from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the chapel lawn.
Also during the afternoon Saturday, there will be both women’s and men’s soccer games. The women will play at noon and the men at 2 p.m. at Julian Field. noon
During half time of the men’s game, the Harvest Fest royalty will be announced.
Students can end Harvest Fest week on the evening of Saturday, Sept. 20, with a masquerade-themed dance beginning at 8 p.m. on the chapel lawn. A dance floor, DJ and a bartender for non-alcoholic drinks will be provided.
“I’m excited to see the acrobats and to watch the soccer game Saturday to see the outcome of the Harvest Fest royalty,” said Angela Mancuso, senior public relations major.
Also looking forward to Harvest Fest events is Awout Anyeng, senior biology major.
“I’m excited about two events, airbrush tattoos and the rock wall,” he said.
Harvest Fest has been a tradition at Park for many years and continues to go strong.
“I like the whole idea and the week long events leading up to the dance,” said Dion Landis, sophomore social psychology major. “I think it’s a brilliant idea.”
