Park University seniors will walk to the main stage at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, at the Community of Christ Auditorium in Independence, Mo., during commencement ceremonies.
Park plans to not only hold the commencement ceremony this semester but also has a special event planned for graduates and their guests Friday, Dec. 13. The special event will consist of a luncheon, a tour or Parkville’s campus and an opportunity to meet with faculty and staff members that have assisted graduates on their journey at Park.
This fall’s commencement ceremony keynote speaker will be CEO of Business and Professional Women’s Foundation Deborah L. Frett.
Frett’s list of accomplishments include more than 30 years experience providing strategic direction and executive management to associations for profit and start up, as well as an advocate for women vets, green job development and redefining the workplace to meet the needs of the 21st century.
Despite the excitement surrounding the ceremony, graduates will face challenges after the big event including a struggle to find work in their field of study. According to the Washington post, “Only 27 percent of college grads have a job related to their major and 62 percent of college graduates had a job that required a college degree.”
Joshua Lewis, senior in business marketing and basketball player explained his plans after graduation.
“I will do one year of Grad School,” he said. “And I plan to be a marketing executive of a payroll company; preferably ADP and also doing side work with Synergy Alliance.”
Park University’s diploma fee and other graduation charges come out to an overall price of $125. The application fee is $75 and cannot be paid with financial aid. Debit, credit or cash are the only options.
