Park Student Government Association, otherwise known as PSGA, provides activities to the students for a better experience on campus and is always looking for more student involvement.
PSGA has a five-year plan that comes from Park’s Promise, which is the university’s strategic plan. Kirby Appollis, a senior majoring in legal studies, is the Vice-President of PSGA.
“The first priority is ensuring student success so PSGA is creating an academic affairs committee,” she said. “The next priority is strengthening Parks brand so PSGA is going to organize events to strengthen students’ involvement on campus and pride. Priority number three is to ensure organizational effectiveness. PSGA will do this through a series of evaluations from a third party and will also conduct a student survey at the end of the year. Priority four is to optimize the use of technology, PSGA is committed to helping students voice their opinions about the new technology that may be implemented in the future by having student forms. Priority five strengthening Parks fiscal position, PSGA will do this through responsibly distributing funds to clubs and organizations from the student activities fee.”
For the rest of this semester, no events are finalized yet but their main attention right now is giving funds to clubs that need it.
“Next semester we are working on having a fashion show,” said Apollis.
Kyle Enloe, a senior also majoring in legal studies and an officer for the PSGA, expressed his interest in activities the PSGA organizes.
“The PSGA provides our university with a sense of community with the various things they do,” he said. “Their effort makes Park University a better, more engaging place to both live and study.”
Anyone interested in being a part of PSGA or knowing more about their plans, can meet every Friday at 12:15 p.m. in the Louise Morden Boardroom or visit www.park.edu/parkstudentgovernmentassociation.
