Leadership and excellence is what people will find upon entering the doors of the ROTC office at Park University.
The ROTC Program is a satellite school that operates from Park University to Missouri Western. It’s also offers a yearly training program for members to become officers.
Students in the ROTC program complete physical training three times as well as attending special classes and labs for the program. Towards the end of October, ROTC also completes field training exercises that include land navigation and STEX Training. A Ranger Challenge is also held every Tuesday and Thursday that is said to be like the tough mudder races.
At Park University, the organization sets up to recruit and answer questions about the military during the first week of school and at other campus events.
The program also completes fundraising events. They raise money to attend events and raise money for a cadet to participate in the U.S. Army’s Ten-Miler race in Washington, D.C.
During Veterans Week in November, ROTC participates in career fairs, recruiting, a 5k run and a stand down for homeless veterans.
Participating in these activities improves members’ leadership skills, according to students involved in the program.
“Leadership activities that shape us to be future leaders of the army,” said Maria Gallegos, member.
Some in ROTC work in the ROTC office and at the Warrior Center answering questions about enrolling in ROTC, benefits and classes.
The Warrior Center provides a place where all the military – past and present – gather to hangout and drink some coffee or get help with their benefits or get some tutoring.
When Adam Hix had trouble getting his full benefits for his classes the Warrior Center helped Adam.
“I was getting half the benefits for my classes and the Warrior Center called and I got my full benefit,” he said.
Anyone interested or has question about the ROTC Program the office doors are always open, which is located in the underground.
