Every year Park University gives the opportunity to students to meet with local employers. This year the career fair will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17, in the hallway in Mabee Learning Center.
According to Tess Surprenant, director of the career development center, companies are looking to higher full-time and internship positions for the fall and for next year.
“We wanted to make sure that we were giving Park students better access to those opportunities.” she said in a written statement.
This year about 40 employers will chat and get to know students including representatives from organizations like Cerner Corporation, Commerce Bank, Waddell & Reed, Truman Medical Center, Northwestern Mutual, US Bank, Missouri State Troopers and the Missouri Department of Social Services.
Students can sign up at eRecruiting to see a full list of employers and to get news about jobs openings at https://park.experience.com/er/security/login.jsp
In order to prepare for the career fair, the Career Development Center provides two workshops before the fair.
“We want every student to have a great experience at the Fall Career & Internship Fair,” said Surprenant. “And to help students prepare we are offering ‘Career Fair Prep’ workshops.”
Students should bring copies of their resume, be open to talk to several people, dress business casual and research about the different companies that are attending.
If students have any questions about their resume, the career fair, and job opportunities the Career Development Center is located in the underground suite 714 and is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
