RHC plans Karaoke night event
College can be a stressful time for all students and that is why it is important for students to find ways to relax.
At Park University, the Resident Hall Council and the Park Student Activity Board have designed a night where students can take a break from their studies and let their voices be heard.
An open karaoke night will be held for all students at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 4.
Unlike Park University’s ‘Park Idol’ night, where students compete for prizes by singing, this karaoke night will be centered on just showing up and having fun.
“The point of the karaoke night is getting people to have fun,” said Ayla Parham, the RHC’s president and a junior double majoring in biology and secondary education.
The karaoke night will be held just before midterms and will give students an opportunity to have fun with their friends and other students.
It is also something that everyone who attends Park can participate in, an important factor the RHC always keeps in mind.
The students themselves also have opinions on how they think the event will be received.
“I guess my expectation of student response is that many will not be brave enough to put themselves out there,” said Hannah Bertram, a sophomore working on her English major. “But I think the majority of people will rally for the few brave souls who do, and that will provide the atmosphere and event that is pursued through karaoke.”
There is also an award incentive for students who participate in the karaoke night. Those who participate in the karaoke night will be entered into a raffle.
The raffle will determine the winners of several different gift cards unlike Park Idol where students win prizes when judges decide who should win what.
To be entered into the raffle, a student must sign up with the RHC and perform in the karaoke night.
The karaoke night will be held in the McCoy Meetin’ House.
