Park University women’s soccer team had their hopes of running the 2023 Heart of America Athletic Conference Tournament after losing the quarterfinal match on Nov. 4 in Atchison, Kan. to No. 4 Benedictine College, who took the win 3-1.
The Benedictine Ravens started the game with a fire earning all three goals in the first half with 23 shots throughout the entire game while the Pirate only shot 11 times in the match.
The shots on goal were closer as Benedictine had 10, but Park only trailed by two with eight shots on goal. The 2023 Heart First Team All-Conference player, Patrycia Kozak, took five of the shots.
The Pirates tried to come back in the second half, and Lilli Porsch scored 37 seconds in with an assist from Brock Allen. Unfortunately, they were unable to land any other shots in the goal.
The Ravens were unable to score anymore points as well in this half as Felicitas Mueller, a 2023 Heart Second Team All-Conference member, and the Park defense stopped the Ravens with five saves.
Park ended this season with a record of 9-6-1 overall and 6-5 in conference play. This is the best record the women’s soccer program has had since joining the Heart conference in 2020.
