ASA hold food drive to celebrate Heart Day of Caring
Park University’s Association of Student Athletes, ASA, is taking advantage of the Heart of America’s Heart Day of Caring by organizing a food drive for the Park Pantry.
For the entire month of February, any spectator who donates non-perishable goods such as canned foods, granola bars or cereal will receive free entry into Park home events.
In addition, on Feb. 15, ASA is holding a raffle during Park basketball’s double header against Central Methodist. Everyone who donates will receive free admission and a raffle ticket for a chance to win a prize.
The ASA is made up of representatives from all sports, and the president is Bryce Butler who runs on the track team.
He said, “It gives us a chance to give the students an opportunity to get involved, but also to let others know we (ASA) really care about serving and helping other people out in the community.”
The Pirate Pantry was set up to help provide food to those in need in the Park community while alleviating the stress of food insecurity among Park students.
The Heart began the Heart Day of Caring last year, which all 14 schools in the conference participated in.
“With Heart Day of Caring, it is our chance to display what it is Park values like our characteristics, integrity, acts of service, and we’re really trying to just build unity with the student population,” said Butler.
Here is a list of home events where you can help make a difference for the Park Pantry.
Your donation will support the student journalists of Park University. Your contribution will allow us to cover our annual website hosting costs, freeing up other funds for equipment, printing and training.
