April is Sexual Assault Awareness month and to help spread information about sexual assault, sexuality and sex positivity, Park University will host a special seminar Tuesday, April 15.
Thia Tomasich, Park University’s senior dispatcher for Campus Safety, will speak out about the importance of sexual assault safety, sexuality, acceptance and sex positivity in an event she has titled “Let’s Talk About Sex.”
This event will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, in the McCoy Meetin’ House.
Tomasich said that while at this event she is not directly representing Campus Safety – but just herself. With this approach, she has more leniency to share some of her interesting personal stories and her beliefs about safe sex.
Tomasich’s said he hopes her sex lecture will define and debunk some of the myths that precede sexual assault. She will discuss culture and society and how they shape views and beliefs about sex. Additionally, she will discuss the pitfalls of not educating about sex and what one can do to have great sex – including fun without having it.
According to Tomasich said she has done extensive research on and has a passion for sex education.
“There is no such thing as emotionless sex,” she said.
