As the women’s basketball team continues into their season, its time to introduce one player – Senior Taylor Lloyd.
The Brooklyn, N.Y., native took a leap of faith when Park University’s Head Coach Kenneth Cooper asked her to join his women’s program. Cooper caught word of Lloyd when she was playing for Connors State College in Warner, Okla.
Lloyd started playing basketball when she began junior high, however, she didn’t get serious until high school.
“I would say that I didn’t change and really pursue the sport until my sophomore year,” said Lloyd.
As one of the seniors on the court, Lloyd holds a strong leadership role and helps to carry a team that is destine for great accomplishments by the end of this 2013-2014 season.
“I plan to do my job on the court and lead the team as best as I can,” Lloyd said.
The Pirates currently hold a 12-10 record, 10-6 in the AMC.
“(This year) we have a better chance of making it to Nationals,” said Lloyd. “We have lots of girls with lots of skill.”
Standing at 5 foot 8 inches, Lloyd is an aggressive force on the court. Lloyd had a game-high of 19 points on Feb. 15 against Benedictine-Springfield and continues to remain steadfast.
The women’s basketball team plays two conference games next week at Lyon and Missouri Baptist.
