The Park University Women’s Basketball team dominated Stephens College during a game Jan. 14.
From the start of the game, Stephens College had struggled to gain ground against the women. The Pirates immediately applied full-court pressure resulting in early turnovers causing the Park team to score eight unanswered points.
A complete team effort of balanced scoring from the Pirates played a vital role. Four Pirates were in the double-digits in points with Kristin Johnson, freshman guard, scoring a career-best at 10; Sydney Heard, freshman guard, with 15; Lauren LaBonde, freshman guard, with 13; and Channell Mackey, junior guard, with 12.
Turnovers decided this game. The Pirates finished with 25 steals and the Stephens College Stars had 33 turnovers. The final score ended in an 85-43 blowout and Park never trailed in this game. This win extended the Pirates’ winning-streak to four (6-6, 4-2 AMC). Stephens College hasn’t won any games this season.
The Pirates will play next at 2 p.m. this Saturday, Jan. 25, at Hannibal-LaGrange in Hannibal, Mo.
