If you are interested in learning about new cultures while still pursuing your degree – the annual Park University Study Abroad Fair may be the event just for you.
The fair will be held from 10 a.m. to noon this Wednesday, Jan. 29, in the Mabee Learning Center. Information will be provided about summer programs available for students who are interested in studying abroad.
The available study abroad programs vary in length with some as short as 10 days and some as long as 10 weeks.
Program prices range from $1,000 and $12,000.
English 304 will also be offered for 10 days in northwestern England and taught by Lolly Ockerstrom, English associate professor.
Some countries for studying abroad in the past have been England, France and Italy, Japan and Morocco. Students also have had the opportunity to study in South America in countries including Costa Rica, Peru and Argentina.
“(The) number one thing students learn about themselves is to be more driven, self-confident and self-assured,” said Angela Markley Peterson, director of the Global Education and Study Abroad program.
Peterson said students benefit in the program because they are more likely to continue their education and graduate with higher GPAs.
The program also helps students when it comes to future job opportunities and personal growth.
Peterson said she enjoys hearing that studying abroad is the students’ best experience of college.
“(They often say it is the) best experience of my college career and can’t wait to go back,” she said.
